redefiningbipolar:

Is anyone else really bothered by how long that neck looks?

Anyway. So I’m really happy John Oliver highlighted some mental health problems, though mostly because he talked about mental health in a very appropriate (i.e. accurate) way and it’s great media attention for these issues. However, it left me frustrated because it barely scratches the surface and the issues he talked about were not the ones that I think are particularly helpful for destigmatization. For example, it would have been nice to mention stereotypes of mental illnesses, such as people with depression not being lazy and people with schizophrenia not being crazy murderers (though kudos for pointing out that people with mental health issues are less likely to be violent than the general population).

As they say, any publicity is good publicity. Let’s keep the conversation rollin’.
