Because it’s Mental Illness Awareness Week… and this illustrates perfectly. If you’ve never personally experienced depression firsthand, or any disease of the mind really.. this is what it’s like. Constantly. It’s not something you can just “get over”. You wouldn’t tell someone with cancer to just get cured, now would you? It’s just like that: not as easy as it sounds, not at all. It takes months and sometimes years of meds and therapy to overcome, and even with that, everyday you have to make an effort to fight that voice in your head that’s constantly saying you’re not good enough. For people with mental illness, life is a battle. So please, don’t ever make someone feel like they’re fighting it alone.
